The Munich Residence

Situated around seven large courtyards, the huge complex comprises three main areas to tick off. These are the Italian Renaissance grotto courtyard, the generously decorated Antiquarium banqueting hall and the Baroque Ancestral Gallery.

The Marienplatz

The square in the city center is named after a column that was erected here in the 17th century.

In any season, locals or tourists stroll, shop or enjoy the food here.

The New City Hall

The new City Hall, shown on the postcards, is a monument worth visiting.

The Glockenspiel is a tower clock, whose doors open at specific intervals and brightly colored dancers and knights play their roles. They stage two events from the past: a tournament on Marienplatz and the dance that marked the end of the Plague.

The Church of Saint Peter

Munich's oldest church, built in the late 1100s and rebuilt after the fire, is now a fusion of styles. From its tower you can admire the city in all its splendor.

The German Museum

The museum showcases the development of science and technology in Germany, from nanotechnology to breeding, aerospace, astronomy and hydraulic engineering.

Pinakothek der Moderne

This is where the most famous artworks of the last 100 years are displayed. The museum also has exhibitions for applied art/industrial design, photography, drawings and architecture.

The English Park

It is one of the largest city parks in Germany, covering 910 hectares and indeed one of the most beautiful. Naturally arranged trees and plants and an artificial lake offer ever-changing views. It's also a pleasant place to sunbathe and picnic, or to have a snack or a drink.

The Olympic Park

The park is an entertainment center where you can zip-line over the iconic stadium, or ski down the hill in winter.

The BMW Welt and the BMW museum

The museum exhibits vintage cars, planes, motorcycles, turbines, engines and extravagant vehicles from the last two decades, all accompanied by multimedia information.

BMW Welt is the most spectacular showroom in the world. People come here to pick up their new BMWs, and it's a spectacle as their car is lifted up to them in a glass hall. You can also get behind the wheel here and even book a test drive.

The Hofbrauhaus

You can enjoy Bavarian beer here in a casual atmosphere.

The Oktoberfest

The festival that attracts the most visitors in the world. The 16–18-day festival starts on the third Saturday of September.
